Creek Valley Storm Shows Strength, Speed, and Growth at Paxton Invite
The Creek Valley Storm Track and Field team put on a strong showing at the Paxton Invite, not only landing on the podium in several events but also racking up a wave of personal and season records. The team’s effort and progress were evident across the board, from sprints to distance races, field events, and relays.
Sprint Standouts
In the 100-meter dash, Tyson Wolff led the way for Creek Valley with an 8th place finish, clocking in at 12.27 seconds. Luke Fletcher and Alvin Russell both celebrated personal bests, finishing at 12.34 and 12.56 seconds respectively.
The 200-meter saw solid efforts from Nellis Witcher (30.63), Connor Beitel (31.94), and Emily Lutz (36.80), with Witcher returning later to notch a personal record of 1:11.07 in the 400-meter dash.
Distance Events Deliver
The 800-meter dash showcased a competitive Creek Valley trio. Jaxon Wickham posted a time of 2:27.54, followed closely by Carter Russell (2:34.79) and Kole Oliverius, who earned a personal record of 2:37.84.
On the girls’ side, Rebecca Lutz ran the 800 in 3:39.53 and came back to clock a season-best time of 7:13.00 in the 1600-meter run.
In the grueling 3200-meter run, Logan Berrie claimed 6th place and set a personal record with an impressive 12:59.00 finish.
Hurdles and Relays Show Grit
Connor Beitel hit a new personal best in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 22.80, while Emily Lutz took on the 100-meter hurdles in 25.15.
The boys' 4x400 relay team — Wolff, Russell, Fletcher, and Carter Russell — raced to a personal record of 4:03.98, good for 6th place.
In the 4x800, Berrie, Wickham, Carter Russell, and Alvin Russell pushed hard to land 4th place with a personal record time of 10:08.79.
Field Events Highlight Power and Precision
The field events were equally impressive. Luke Fletcher had a huge day, taking 1st place in long jump with a leap of 19'4" and earning 3rd in high jump with a mark of 5'10".
In the shot put ring, Alvin Russell led the Storm with a throw of 30'7.28", followed by Taylor Davidsen (29'9.5") and Catherine Tilghman (24'10").
Tilghman also came through in discus, tossing a personal record of 76'7".
A Meet to Remember
With a mix of podium finishes, new personal bests, and season records, the Paxton Invite proved to be a showcase of Creek Valley’s grit and growth. The team’s dedication and development continue to shine as they move deeper into the season. Expect more great performances ahead from this rising squad. Our next meet is the MAC Track and Field meet which will be at Bayard on May 3.

Creek Valley Storm Track & Field Athletes Shine with PRs and Podium Finishes
The Creek Valley Storm Track and Field team delivered a strong showing in their recent meet, highlighted by personal records (PRs), season bests, and multiple top-8 finishes across both track and field events.
Sprints and Hurdles
In the 100-meter dash, Tyson Wolff impressed by advancing to the finals with a 12.14 in prelims and securing a 7th place finish with a 12.29 in the finals. Teammates Connor Beitel (14.36) and Nellis Witcher (14.93) also contributed solid efforts.
Wolff also joined the 4x100-meter relay alongside Alvin Russell, Mason Devie, and Luke Fletcher to clock a personal best of 49.59.
The 200-meter dash featured a standout performance from Luke Fletcher, who ran a PR of 24.87 in the prelims and finished 7th in the finals with a 25.16. Nellis Witcher (30.52) and Emily Lutz (36.18) both notched personal records in their respective races.
In the 400-meter dash, Mason Devie recorded a personal record of 57.61, earning 6th place. Alvin Russell finished in 1:00.08, while Rebecca Lutz ran a season-best of 1:26.34.
Emily Lutz also took on the 100m hurdles, finishing 8th with a time of 24.63. In the 300m hurdles, Connor Beitel showed great progress with a personal best of 1:04.27.
Mid-Distance and Distance Events
The 800-meter dash saw three PRs: Jaxon Wickham led the Storm with a time of 2:20.88, followed by Carter Russell at 2:33.09 and Kole Oliverius at 2:51.02.
In the 1600-meter run, Logan Berrie finished 7th with a 6:04.56, and Rebecca Lutz once again ran a season-best time of 7:40.84.
Creek Valley also fielded competitive relay teams:
- 4x400m relay (Carter Russell, Alvin Russell, Kole Oliverius, Jaxon Wickham): 4:26.39 (PR)
- 4x800m relay (Oliverius, Russell, Berrie, Wickham): 10:14.60 (PR)
Field Events
The field events were a highlight for Creek Valley, particularly for Luke Fletcher, who dominated the long jump with a winning mark of 19’10.5” (PR). He also finished 2nd in high jump, clearing 5’10”. Teammate Phoenix Schultz contributed a 6th place finish with a 5’0” jump.
In the shot put, Alvin Russell led the team with a PR of 33’6”, followed by Taylor Davidsen (30’0”) and Catherine Tilghman (24’7”). Tilghman also secured 8th place in discus with a personal best throw of 74’7”.
From seasoned upperclassmen to rising underclassmen, the Storm athletes brought energy, improvement, and determination to the track and field. With multiple PRs and top finishes, the team continues to show growth and promise as the season progresses. Our next meet is the Paxton Invite.

Due to impending weather the golf tournament in Bridgeport has been cancelled on Thursday, April 17th. The meet will not be rescheduled.
